Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing
and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.

I am writing an essay for my literature studies class and would like to site this poem. However, I need to know where it is originally sited from and who the translator is. I would be very thankful for your help.

Hi Kerry,
The poem was written by Jalal al-Din Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks in The Essential Rumi, published by HarperCollins Publishers. (If you search the Internet for the name “Rumi”… you will find many more of his delightful poems.)

Good luck with your essay!
